Archaeology of habitat

Example 1

Contextual precedent overview.

Domestic precedent

The precedent here is less about style than about restraint. Each surface is allowed to read honestly, and the architecture is carried by proportion, window placement, and the way furnishings stay close to the perimeter.

Transitional light

Housing becomes more legible when daylight is used to grade transitions between work, rest, and gathering. A planted threshold or a narrow court often does more than an extra partition wall.

Everyday occupation

The lived-in corner matters as much as the hero room. A chair, a reading lamp, and a plant can explain how the larger material language behaves at a human scale.
